2022-10-02

The main guide doesn’t work out of the box for Debian Unstable so here is the procedure.

Install pre-requisites #

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install ca-certificates curl gnupg lsb-release

Add Docker’s GPG key #

$ sudo mkdir -p /etc/apt/keyrings
$ curl -fsSL https://download.docker.com/linux/debian/gpg | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /etc/apt/keyrings/docker.gpg

Set key permissions #

$ sudo chmod a+rx /etc/apt/keyrings
$ sudo chmod a+r /etc/apt/keyrings/docker.gpg

Create repository source file #

$ echo \
    "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/docker.gpg] https://download.docker.com/linux/debian bullseye stable" \
    | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/docker.list > /dev/null

Update the repo and install packages #

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install docker-ce docker-ce-cli containerd.io docker-compose-plugin
